�㽶��ý successfully communicates the views of the roofing industry to policy makers in Washington, D.C., about legislative and regulatory issues of importance. Recent highlights and accomplishments from �㽶��ý’s government relations activities include:

• �㽶��ý secured several major wins for the roofing industry in the (H.R. 1), including:
A permanent 20% Section 199A deduction for pass-through businesses
Estate tax exemption increased to $15 million and made permanent
Top individual tax rate locked in at 37%
Restoration of full research and development expensing and 100% bonus depreciation
Protected full SALT deduction for businesses (no cap limitation)
Expanded 529 plans and Pell Grants to include workforce training and credentialing
• �㽶��ý secured member participation in numerous congressional roundtables throughout the U.S. regarding pro-growth tax reform leading up to the expiration of key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
• �㽶��ý successfully advocated for changes to beneficial ownership reporting requirements under the Corporate Transparency Act, which resulted in the Treasury Department’s regulations narrowing the scope to foreign reporting companies only.
• �㽶��ý worked with lawmakers to secure passage of legislation to provide additional visas for the H-2B seasonal guest worker program, allowing more �㽶��ý members to address their seasonal labor needs.
• �㽶��ý advocated for increased funding for Perkins Career and Technical Education State Grants, bringing the total to more than $1.4 billion annually.
• Roofing Day in D.C. 2025 was successful in bringing together the entire roofing industry to speak with “one voice” on Capitol Hill. With more than 260 registered attendees from 38 states and Washington, D.C., this event ranks in the top advocacy events in Washington, D.C.
• �㽶��ý participated in numerous congressional roundtables throughout the U.S. regarding pro-growth tax reform leading up to the expiration of key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
• �㽶��ý has worked for years to pass a bill to make the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act program easier for employers to use and more effective. In 2024, A Stronger Workforce for America Act, which provides necessary reforms to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, passed by a wide margin in the House.
• In 2023, �㽶��ý arranged for members to testify as official Small Entity Representatives regarding the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s proposed standard for Heat Injury and Illness Prevention, providing specific input regarding potential effects on roofing industry practices with the goal of preventing future burdensome requirements.
• �㽶��ý worked with lawmakers to secure passage of legislation to provide additional visas for the H-2B seasonal guest worker program, allowing more �㽶��ý members to address their seasonal labor needs.
• �㽶��ý successfully worked with coalition partners to oppose the classification of PVC as a hazardous waste by the Environmental Protection Agency.
• ROOFPAC, �㽶��ý’s political action committee, was highly active in supporting pro-growth candidates during the 2023-24 election cycle, raising nearly $350,000; 96% of candidates supported by ROOFPAC on the Nov. 5, 2024, ballot won their elections.
